A New Pequannock “Celebration of Hope and Light” Tree Lighting Event
November 29 at 6 PM by FRC Parking Lot (in front of Municipal Building)
Community Partners for Hope (CPFH) is working with Township and others in our community to expand the annual Christmas Tree Lighting to a “Community Celebration of Hope & Light.” With safe practices in place, we will offer events from 4:30-6:00 PM on Nov. 29. A new colorful 18-foot tree has been purchased by local donors. It will be located in the center of the walkway in front of the Municipal Building. White lights will be on all the other trees across the front of the parking lot and across FRC campus.
Schedule:
• 4:30 – 5:30 PM Carolers, Santa, Ice Sculptor, Kids Activities with Melody Mom and Heidi from Scribble Garden, Hot Chocolate and Cookies, and a reading of the “Night Before Christmas.” We will be asking people to preregister for a limited number of available tickets for this part of the evening. More information coming on how to do that.
• 5:30 – 6:00 PM Christmas Tree lighting with a reading of the Christmas story in the Gospels, the high school choir and band, lighting candles, and a culmination with the tree lighting. COVID survivor and thriver Colby Douglas will light this year’s tree.
The tree lighting will be livestreamed for those who can’t join in person. We are working with the Township Health Officer, Parks & Rec, EMS, and the local police to make sure this is a safe event. However, if COVID numbers rise, and we need to move this to a virtual event, we will only offer livestream with leaders present by the new tree.
